In December, 2010, Williams and
Associates and Coldwell Banker Troy Helman, REALTORS joined forces to
become the largest real estate firm in the Wabash Valley. The following
is a brief history of each company:
Williams & Associates was
founded in 1938 by Bert O. Williams. In 1970 Mr. Williams' son, Bert
Williams Jr. joined the business. Bert Williams Jr., an alumnus of Rose
Hulman Institute of Technology, has also been President and Realtor of
the Year for the Terre Haute Area Association of Realtors and its MLS.
He also has served as the Chairman of the Board for the Terre Haute Area
Chamber of Commerce and has been on several public and private Boards
of Directors. Patty Williams became the president of Williams &
Associates and has over 31 years of experience in the real estate
industry. Now with over 40 years of real estate experience, Bert and
Patty remain active with Coldwell Banker Troy Helman, REALTORS and with
other real estate development activities.
Coldwell Banker Troy
Helman, REALTORS was founded in November 1968, by Larry and Susan
Helman, and originally opened under the name of Larry Helman Agency.
Troy Helman joined the firm after graduation from Indiana State
University in 1984. Troy has been involved in numerous real estate
committees on the state and local levels. He has received the Realtor of
the Year, served as president of the Terre Haute Area Association of
REALTORS, the MLS board and was appointed by Governor O'Bannon as an
Indiana Real Estate Commissioner.
In 2009, the tradition
continued with the ownership shifting to Troy Helman and his wife and
business partner, Bernice Helman and the name changed to Coldwell Banker
Troy Helman, REALTORS. Bernice joined the firm after a successful 20
year career in the banking industry. The entire Helman family have
served on a variety of civic and community organizations in addition to
the professional awards they have received.
Our people are the
strength of our firm. With 53 agents, we are engaged in the community and
have a vested interest in the success of the Wabash Valley and the
surrounding areas. We are a strong firm committed to doing a
professional service for our clients and customers in this fine
community where we live and raise our families.
We are licensed in both Indiana and Illinois, and service the Terre Haute and surrounding communities.
